Older women have the self-confidence that could only come from experience and the knowledge that they can handle whatever life throws their way. That is not to say that they never have a bad day, but merely that it’s probably due to something more than the fact that they have a pimple and a party to go to that night. Why would a man want to date an older woman? Well, older women are often more mature, and financially independent, but they can also be better lovers and usually won’t mess with your head too much.
Sex can only take a relationship so far, so it’s critical to develop two-way communication and empathy for the many gifts an older partner can bring to a relationship. #13 This relationship is a fantasy that isn’t lasting or realistic. It’s been a long-standing misconception that the older woman/younger man relationship is based on fantasy and nothing real. It’s all about a young guy’s crush on a more sexually experienced woman, and an older woman’s craving for a younger, more sexually agile man.

Some younger women may be in a panic as they get closer to 30 because they want to get married and have kids and are worried that it won’t happen if they don’t go husband hunting. With an older woman, she will either already have kids, has chosen to not have kids or is past the point of freaking out about it. If the woman is divorced and already has kids or if she’s in her 40s, she’s not going to be on a mission to have you inseminate her. This is a huge benefit if you don’t want kids. Older women especially have established themselves and have their own lives.
She, on the other hand, may already be settled, financially secure, maybe even a mother. This doesn’t apply to everyone, of course.
16. Take charge and become a leader
And although there are obvious downsides to this, one positive is that it can teach you life skills you would not otherwise have learned so quickly. Brian Collisson and Luciana Ponce De Leon (2018), exploring sources of prejudice towards age-gap relationships, recognize that evolutionary theory holds that younger women should prefer slightly older men and vice versa, in order to maximize reproductive fitness and attainment of resources.[iv] They note that atypical relationships of larger age gaps, particularly when the woman is older, are perceived to violate these established mate preferences. Using data from 55 interviews with women from 30 to 60 years old who date younger men, she found that women were more likely to have played a passive role in forming the relationship when they were over 40 than in their 30s.
